Think about the future

Now that the Olympics have come and gone, it's time to look toward the next big event. In approximately 60 days, we head to the polls to elect the 44th President of the United States of America.

The candidates are preaching change, and change we will see. No matter which party wins, this will be an historic election. The Democratic Party could usher in our nation's first African-American President. The Republicans could welcome our first female Vice-President. It is going to be an interesting couple of months.

See us at National Manufacturing Week in Chicago

Hammond Control Transformer line expanded

AutomationDirect now offers the PG series of 120x240/12x24 VAC HPS Imperator control power transformers as an addition to the existing 240x480 / 120x240 VAC MQMJ series. Designed to meet industrial applications where electromagnetic devices, such as relays, solenoids, etc. are used, they maximize inrush capability and output voltage. These transformers are 50/60 Hz, 600V class, machine tool rated with VA range from 50 VA up to 1500 VA. They are cUL Listed, CE Mark, and RoHS Compliant. The new PG series transformers start at $30 and optional finger safe terminal covers and primary side fuse kits are also available.

The Lighter Side

Surely you've heard the phrase "lost in translation." Recently, one of our press releases was posted on an international technical site. Take a look at how it was "translated." First, look at the original and then read their version (bottom) to see how they translated words rather more literally than intended…

AutomationDirect has expanded the IronHorse™ general purpose AC motor line to include worm gearboxes in various ratio sizes of 5:1 to 60:1.  Constructed of cast iron one-piece housings, the worm gearboxes feature a C-flange input and carbon steel shaft with either right-hand or dual output.

The main gear is constructed of an aluminum bronze casting, which is much harder than typically-used phosphor bronze. A one-piece output shaft hub is designed to secure the heavy-duty output shaft bearing, and double bearing sets are on both shaft ends.

Manufactured by one of the world's leading worm gearbox manufacturers, IronHorse worm gearboxes have double-lipped embedded oil seals to prevent leakage. Designed to change drive direction by 90 degrees, IronHorse gearboxes, with radiused mounting holes, are mountable in any direction, except motor pointing up. The universally interchangeable compact design of the gearboxes ensures easy OEM replacement.
