Editor's note:

Ice Cream TruckMaybe we just need to chill

Do you remember when seasons seemed to last so much longer? Saturdays that seemed endless were spent climbing trees, riding bikes, playing ball with other neighborhood kids. The only worry we had was missing the ice cream man as he drove through the neighborhood. What happened?

As adults, we seem to be pulled in directions we never realized we could be pulled. With our smart phones and other electronic devices in hand, we franticly try to be in multiple places at once. We stress over being two minutes late to anything. Maybe we should just stop for a moment and relearn life from our kids’ perspective. It just might be healthier.

Hey, wait a minute. Do you hear that? Is that the ice cream truck?

This month’s newsletter contains all the latest information, including company news, new product information, our latest webinar schedule, and more. Be sure to take a break with the Lighter Side.

Don’t forget to send us information, about your applications. We are always excited to learn the unique ways customers use AutomationDirect products.

Application Innovations

Upgrading pump stations with PLCs

One of the most important jobs of a water distribution system is to reliably deliver water to its customers. A water district in California had pumping stations with relay-based controls that were more than 30 years old. As they continued to age, the controls caused a definite reliability issue. Read how replacing the aging relays with products from AutomationDirect has virtually erased reliability issues for over a decade.

The Lighter Side

Farmer’s Wisdom

Farmer's Wisdom

Have you ever found yourself concentrating on things almost to the point of obsession? Sometimes, it might help to consider viewing from a different perspective. Take, for example, these words of wisdom from an old farmer:

  1. Most of the stuff people worry about, will never happen anyway.
  2. Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
  3. Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
  4. The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with watches you from the mirror every morning.
  5. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
  6. Letting the cat out of the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in.
  7. If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering someone else’s dog around.
  8. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
  9. A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
  10. Live a good and honorable life; then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.
